ABOVENET COMPLETES DEPLOYMENT OF NETWORK OPERATIONS TO EQUINIX’S U.S. CENTERS Network and Infrastructure Services Provider Now Peers and Sells Services Within Eight of Equinix’s U.S. Internet Hubs Foster City, CA and New York, N.Y. – November 19, 2003 — Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, and AboveNet, Inc., the leading provider of optical infrastructure services that enable unconstrained information exchange, today announced that AboveNet has completed the deployment of its network operations to eight of Equinix’s U.S. Internet Business Exchange™ (IBX®) centers. The deployment will enable AboveNet to enhance the exchange of data with other networks and to sell its network and infrastructure services to the aggregation of companies participating in Equinix’s centers, including leading enterprises and content companies and every major carrier, network and ISP. To enhance its exchange of data, or “peering,” with other Tier 1 networks, AboveNet is utilizing Equinix’s Internet Core Exchange™ service in the Washington, D.C., Silicon Valley and Chicago IBX centers. Peering is the fundamental way in which all Internet traffic – from email to video – is exchanged between the backbone networks that make up the Internet. Through Equinix Internet Core Exchange, AboveNet leverages the cost reduction and performance benefits of direct interconnection to a variety of networks, including the top six large IP backbone networks. The presence of AboveNet in Equinix’s U.S. centers also provides existing Equinix customers with an additional infrastructure services provider option. AboveNet operates a global Tier 1 optical IP network, as well as a variety of digital communications infrastructure services, including a metropolitan area fiber network and managed services. By operating within the same center as AboveNet, Equinix IBX participants will be able to quickly and easily establish relationships with the provider. “Equinix IBX centers offer an opportunity for us to enhance our peering infrastructure while making our services available nationwide to a large audience of enterprises, content companies and networks already operating within Equinix’s centers,” said Bill LaPerch, senior vice president of Network Services for AboveNet. “The deployment of AboveNet’s operations to Equinix’s U.S. centers offers another Tier 1 network and managed services provider option for the community of IBX participants,” said Peter Van Camp, CEO of Equinix. “Similarly, Equinix offers AboveNet significant new revenue opportunities while providing it with a national infrastructure for critical Tier 1 peering needs.” About AboveNet, Inc.
