AboveNet Launches Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) to London’s Enterprise Market

London – September 6, 2004 — AboveNet Communications UK Ltd, a subsidiary of AboveNet Inc., a leading provider of integrated access services to leading edge enterprises, today launched its Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) service to the London enterprise market. Following in the recent footsteps of its US parent, the UK launches a wave service that combines its highly secure, London fibre network with an industry leading CWDM technology.

AboveNet’s CWDM solution will allow companies to create a completely private optical network that has the capability to support all current applications. The ability to deploy a single private network that can increase in capacity as business needs grow, without the need to deploy new circuits, will offer huge benefits to businesses increasingly suffering from unpredictable data growth year on year.

CWDM will enable businesses to replace traditional metered services, simplifying operations whilst providing a network that increases scalability, flexibility and control. CWDM provides an open platform that enables businesses to confidently architect networks that can be easily reconfigured to meet future needs.

• Local Loop Bypass – AboveNet’s WDM services are an alternative to traditional telecommunications services that charge on a metered basis.
