Press ReleaseAboveNet Appoints John Donaldson as its Managing Director LONDON, 17th April, 2008 – AboveNet Communications UK Ltd., a leading provider of fibre optic connectivity solutions for business and carriers and a subsidiary of AboveNet Inc., today announced the appointment of John Donaldson as its managing director and senior vice president, succeeding John Dowbiggin. Donaldson previously held the role of vice president of finance at AboveNet and as such is well positioned to manage and drive the company’s future growth. “The appointment of John Donaldson as managing director for AboveNet in the UK comes at a vital time in our business. AboveNet is currently experiencing significant momentum in both the US and UK markets as more and more companies realise the benefits of private fibre optic infrastructure to enable their mission critical services,” said AboveNet’s chief executive officer and president, Bill LaPerch. “With his commercial acumen and proven management expertise, I am confident of John’s ability to prepare the UK company for considerable growth and to take AboveNet to the next level.” Prior to joining AboveNet, Donaldson held the position of commercial finance director at Verizon Business for seven years. In this position, Donaldson’s key responsibilities included heading up the Premier Accounts line of business in EMEA and providing migration support for Verizon’s acquisition of MCI in 2006. With additional career achievements including forming the Global/Premier Accounts channel with MCI/Worldcom in EMEA (a sales channel selling to and supporting Fortune 500 and other large Verizon customers), Donaldson’s expertise and knowledge in commercial and financial management are undisputed. Donaldson has also held senior financial positions at Nortel Networks and Cellphones Direct, a Vodafone service provider. Donaldson is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales having qualified with Price Waterhouse Coopers.
